Status of Corrugated Cardboard Packaging Industry
In the 1960s–1970s, the corrugated cardboard packaging industry (of corrugated cardboard and corrugated cardboard box) of Korea recorded high (20%–30%) annual growth with increased export of fabric and other light industry products during the initial industrialization, and it has been the key in the paper, packaging, and logistics industries.
In 2008, the production of stencil paper of corrugated cardboard took the biggest share (31.6%, 3.1 million MT) of the total paper production (9.81 million MT) in Korea.
The corrugated cardboard packaging is the biggest packaging material industry (with over 40% market share) among plastic, wood, metal, and paper packaging industries.
Given that the corrugated cardboard packaging is the foundation of logistics, which is highlighted for economic efficiency, the corrugated cardboard packaging is increasingly valuable in the current highly industrial society.

Features of Corrugated Cardboard Packaging Industry
The corrugated cardboard is resistant to compression load but absorbs shock, making it a valuable packaging material.
Given that it is highly recollectable and recyclable for the conservation of the environment and customizable for different needs, it has considerable potential demand depending on R&D.
